  1. Do a quick search on the internet to get more information about the support structures for climbing plants, the characteristics of each one, considering the climatic conditions to which they are subject. Internet is a good option but remember to compare information, and use trustworthy web pages

  2. Prepare the materials you will need to use to develop the activity, starting by the materials to design the project and ending with the construction materials.

How to make a support for climbing plants

1. Section strips 20 × 20 mm are sufficient to obtain a sturdy frame and can be easily cut to length with the saw and the help of the pasta-cutter.

2. We insulate the vertical strips by shaping them at one end to be able to stick them in the ground. We arrange the strips on a plane so that they are diverged from the bottom to the top, according to the dimensions of the vase, then we cut to length the transversal strips of ligature.

3. At each intersection, well centered, insert a Ø 3 × 35 mm screw, after having pre-drilled the wood and flared the seat.

4. We spread a bituminous paint on the part of wood that will be buried to prevent it from rotting quickly.

5. We stick the trellis in the ground so that it stays in the back of the vase and leaves room for the plant; we follow the conical shape of the vase, recline it a little backwards.

6. The vase must provide a more spacious arrangement than the one in which the plant was located. After having extracted it with the earthen bread, we dissolve the intertwining of the roots a little to facilitate its development and insert it into the new vase, then reassembling the earth around it.

7. We also dissolve the aerial part, separating the stems delicately without forcing the shape they have assumed with the development and secure them to the structure with green jute binds, without tightening so as not to affect the slender stems. We can complete the repotting by adding a modest amount of suitable fertilizer and wetting the soil sparingly: keeping it moderately moist.
